Cookie & Storage Policy
How we use cookies and browser storage on decarbonate.io.
What We Use
We use a minimal set of browser storage technologies to operate the platform. We do not use third-party tracking cookies, advertising cookies, or analytics cookies.
Local Storage (Strictly Necessary)
We use browser local storage (not cookies) for authentication. These are strictly necessary for the platform to function and do not require consent under UK PECR.
| Key | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|
dc_access_token | JWT authentication token for your session | 30 minutes |
dc_refresh_token | Token to renew your session without re-entering credentials | 7 days |
These are cleared when you log out. They are never sent to third parties.
Cloudflare Cookies
Our site is served through Cloudflare, which may set the following cookies for security and performance purposes. These are strictly necessary and set by our infrastructure provider.
| Cookie | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|
__cf_bm | Bot management — distinguishes humans from automated traffic | 30 minutes |
__cfruid | Rate limiting — prevents abuse of the platform | Session |
These cookies are set by Cloudflare and are classified as strictly necessary under UK PECR. They do not track you across websites.
What We Do Not Use
- ✗No Google Analytics or similar tracking
- ✗No advertising cookies or pixels
- ✗No social media tracking widgets
- ✗No cross-site tracking of any kind
Your Choices
Since we only use strictly necessary storage, no cookie consent banner is required under UK PECR (Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations). You can clear local storage at any time by logging out, or through your browser settings. Blocking local storage will prevent you from logging into the platform.
Changes to This Policy
If we add any non-essential cookies or tracking in the future, we will update this policy and implement a consent mechanism before doing so.
